Saturday, May 18th join CBS 3 News Anchor Ukee Washington, The Phillie Phanatic, and thousands of sponsors, supporters, active & retired Military,  and Wounded Heroes for Pennsylvania's 12th Annual WALK FOR THE WOUNDED and WARRIORS 5K RUN.

This is your chance to BE A HERO TO A HERO!

Each year this statewide Fundraiser, Festival and Tribute Event draws thousands to Rose Tree Park in Media, Delaware County by Operation First Response.  It has grown bigger every year and the funds raised enable Operation First Response (OFR) to give critical financial assistance to wounded veterans and their families.  In fact, over 11 years, this event has raised more than 2.6 million dollars...and helped more than 20,000 wounded veterans in serious need of aid to supplement their medical, transportation and general living expenses while dealing with life altering injuries incurred  in service to their country.

Hosting the event is Ukee Washington, News Anchor for CBS 3 TV.  He will be joined by hundreds of military veterans and everybody’s favorite mascot, the Phillie Phanatic, who hasn’t missed a single WALK since it began in 2007!

Families are encouraged to come and enjoy both live music as well as DJ music, plus great food, cool military vehicles, a climbing wall, and zip-lining across the park, as they anticipate the arrival of an active service Chinook Helicopter - landing right in Rose Tree Park!

  • The WALK begins at 10am (Everyone is invited!)
  • The WARRIORS 5K RUN begins at 9am

As in previous years, the day will boast a festival-like atmosphere, with live music by RESILIENT, (pictured below) a  band comprised of wounded veterans who met during intense physical rehabilitation at Walter Reed Hospital. This ‘band of brothers’ has developed a huge following, performing nationwide.

Back by popular demand are DJ Partytime and Freddy’s, who will be making delicious sundaes, plus tasty food at family-friendly prices.

OFR encourages those participating in the WALK and RUN to sign up as many family members, friends and co-workers as possible, to make a financial pledge. Read more at Operation First Response

Ceremonies feature Military Guest Speaker, Major General John Gronski.
You will hear the moving story of Guest Speaker, Diana Angstadt, the widow of SMSgt Gregory Angstadt, who recently passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 49. He dedicated his life to serving his country and received numerous medals and commendations.  But upon his death, his own bravery would soon be matched by Diana, who faced unexpected and life-altering financial and insurance challenges.
