Join the more than 2000 people expected to line State Street for Media's 59th Annual Veterans Parade on Monday, November 12th at 11am.
Friends and neighbors all over the county look forward to this annual opportunity for us to step forward and show our  appreciation for every soldier that has served this country.

As one of the most anticipated events of the year, join us in celebrating our Veterans who, in times of both war and peace, chose to protect and serve our nation. These heroes made a commitment to defend their country, their families and every fellow citizen with their lives, if necessary. This is our way to say thank you.

Please join us in honoring their service.  In case of rain ceremonies will be moved to the Media Theatre.

I already know the weather forecast for Thanksgiving:
There's a 99% Chance of Wine.  And a 100% chance I'll be drinking it :)  The only problem is, so will my guests and I don't want to serve a wine that doesn't enhance the food I serve.
So who better to advise us all, than two award-winning vineyards.

Winemaker Gino Razzi and his daughter, Carly invite you
to visit their beautiful Chadds Ford vineyard.

Enjoy live music on the Porch every Saturday afternoon
in November - and November 7th is National Merlot Day,
with 15% off glasses & bottles and free tastings of their
Merlot Reserve.  Fondue lovers should check out their
November 17th-18th Fondue for Two event and instead
of fighting the crowds on Black Friday, relax and enjoy
special festivities at Penns Woods

Wine pairing for an Appetizer Course that features Artisanal Charcuterie and Cheese Board
I'd suggest something light Penns Woods Pinot Noir 2016. It's light, with bright acidity and earthy qualities that pair nicely with nutty and delicately flavored hard cheeses as well as fresh and soft goat cheese. Pinot cuts through cuts fatty pate, and can hold up to the rich, saltiness of prosciutto and salami.

For a Turkey, Chicken or Vegetarian Main Course
I suggest our Chardonnay Reserve 2016.  This French-style Chardonnay has a vivid acidity that balances the fat of crisp oven roasted chicken or turkey skin, the soft body with hints of oak fit the palate bill for roasted cherry tomatoes and green beans with shaved almonds topped with sea salt and olive oil.

Pairing for a Thanksgiving Ham with Green Beans
I'd suggest something medium bodied that could compliment the saltiness from the ham and the earthiness of the vegetable. Grace Winey’s 1734 Red Blend is a medium to full bodied blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon that would pair well with this fall dish.

For Roast Beef and Mashed Potatoes
Heavier beef dishes require a hearty wine that will be able to stand up to the richness of the meat. Cabernet Franc is a dry and peppery wine that would enhance the heaviness of this dish.

For a rich dessert like Chocolate Molten Lava Cake
A gooey and rich chocolate dessert pairs well with an off-dry wine like Gracie Red. This balanced blend gives off a subtle sweetness that compliments the richness of the chocolate.

The Inn at Grace Winery is a Bed and Breakfast and winery in Glen Mills. Located on a 50 acre historic property of an original Quaker farm house, the estate vineyard and winery grows and produces the majority of it’s grapes on site.

Both Penns Woods Winery and Grace Winery are located in Delco's Brandywine Country

Seeing Hedgerow Theatre's famous annual production of Charles Dickens’ A CHRISTMAS CAROL has been a long time family tradition for thousands of people.  But whether you've been before, or may be coming for the first time - you, like Scrooge, himself, have a choice to make!

Hedgerow is doing two productions of the play, back to back.  The first is a tour de force portrayal of Scrooge in a moving, one man show...

Jared Reed's acclaimed performance begins November 23rd and runs through December 2nd.  It is a rare and riveting version of the classic tale, capturing the darker notes of Dicken's most famous character.

None of us walks down the road of life without being changed by our experiences along the way.  For some, painful experiences squeeze our former selves into the smallest corner of our hearts, replacing that space with a somebody we're not proud of.  Christmas is the perfect time to reflect on how Scrooge, as well as we ourselves, can let go of that hurt and open our hearts once again.

The 26th Annual Production of this popular show opens on December 7th and runs through Christmas Eve!

Relive the transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge, laugh with all the Cratchits, and journey through space and time with the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come - as merriment and mirth fill your heart with joy.

Hedgerow's setting in an 1840's Grist Mill, lends itself perfectly to Dickens' version of Victorian London. And professional actors are joined by over 60 members of the community, making this a true Community celebration.

Regular Ticket $37, Senior Discount $34, Age 30 and Under $20
For reservations or more info, call 610-565-4211 or visit the Hedgerow Box Office.

The Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra opens its 73rd season with an exciting concert on November 4th at Upper Darby Performing Arts Center

The November concert opens with the “Concert Fanfare” by Curtis graduate (1922) Jeanne Behrend, leading into the “Star-Spangled Banner.” Following is Bizet’s “L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2” featuring the orchestra’s rich sound and solo instrumentalists. Next in the lineup is “Harlem, a Tone Parallel for Orchestra” by Duke Ellington, composed at the invitation of Toscanini. It’s a spirited portrayal of Uptown 1940s New York (with some New Orleans for good measure). The afternoon’s finale is Bartók’s “Concerto for Orchestra” a tour-de-force infused with Hungarian dance idioms to make it an instant classic of the symphonic world.

Music Director Reuben Blundell is thrilled to begin his fifth year with the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra. Blundell conducted and produced the orchestra’s debut CD “American Romantics III,” recently released worldwide through Naxos and New Focus Records, and which is a nominee for the 61st Grammy Awards. All three CDs in Blundell’s collaboration with Philadelphia’s Fleisher Collection have received glowing reviews in the United States and beyond.
