Residents and Tourists alike will have a ringside view to Media’s 1st Annual Hometown Cycling Classic - an exciting, high energy, family-friendly event with top pro and amateur cyclists competing for a $6,500 total purse!

If you and your family love bikes, racing, and fresh air, bring a blanket or lawn chairs and spend a couple of hours watching top cyclists take on a 0.8 mile looping race course through our tree-lined streets...

Called a Criterium event (or crit), it is a road race over a short circuit, that often takes place in vibrant towns like Media.  It is an awesome spectator experience because instead of being a long distance course, where you only get to see the riders go by once or twice -- it is a looping course where you'll see them whizzing by every few minutes.

Our Media Hometown Classic features 9 races that will run consecutively from 8:30am until 5:15pm - with USA Cycling licensed pro and amateur cyclists going full throttle from start to finish, attacking, counter-attacking and showcasing amazing bike-handling skills as they take on tight, 90 degree corners at 30+ mph with other cyclists just inches away! Each race starts at 3rd and Jackson, turns left on Front, then left on Monroe, then left at 6th, then left at Jackson — and continues for between 20 and 40 laps.

Cyclists in the nine pro-am races are competing for cash prizes - with payouts going to the top finishers, not just the first finisher.

Plus Kids Will Compete in 2 Klassic Sprints for Medals!
Starting at 2:30pm kids ages 5-6 and 7-8 will have their own sprint races during the Media Hometown Cycling Classic.  Each participant receives a medal and bragging rights that they raced on the same course as the pros in this inaugural event.

The 5-6 age group will stage at the lot behind the Media Fire House, and the race will be approximately two blocks long. The 7-8 age group stages at Front and Monroe Streets and will race approximately three blocks to the finish line.
