Longwood Gardens horticulturists have been pretty busy since last October.  A record-breaking 17,000+ chrysanthemums have been nurtured, trained and arranged into plump balls, soaring spirals, giant columns, and colorful pagodas -- and the veil comes off on Oct 22nd!

It is the largest, most intensively cultivated display of mums in the entire country.

But the star of the show is hard to miss...it's the largest  mum grown outside of Asia.  It is called the Thousand Bloom Mum, boasting more than 1,500 perfectly arranged flowers on one plant.

And while you're there, check out other seasonal highlights displayed throughout Longwood's indoor and outdoor gardens - like  NIGHTSCAPE, an after-dark display that turns the gardens into an Alice in Wonderland-like dream, all set to stunning music and best viewed after 7pm.
