National Puppy Day celebrates the sheer joy and unconditional love that puppies bring to our lives -- so don't PAWS, head for Delco's SPCA and make a new friend!

Delaware County's SPCA Docs, staff and pets (some pictured above) make this an amazing, pro-active place to find love.
  • They always step in when animals are in danger.
  • And they save lives (both canine and human) through education and outreach programs like New Leash on Life USA.

New Leash on Life is an innovative dog training program that helps save the lives of animals and at the same time improves the lives of the incarcerated -- dogs and inmates rescuing each other through training, seminars and skill building.

Already have a pet buddy?
Here are 10 ways to show your "Puppy Love" this month...

1. Assist an ill or elderly neighbor by walking their puppy.

2. Host a puppy party and invite friends and their pups. Just cover your sofa and hide the cat's food.
And the cat!

3. Volunteer at a shelter - walk or play with a puppy, or clean their cages.  All while smiling...
"That's it...sign your name right there
and I'm yours!"

4. Take your dog to Yappy Hour on MARCH 20th at GiggyBites in Chadds Ford.  It's a St.Pawtrick's Day bash from 1 to 4pm with dog and people beer pkus snacks for all!

5. Take your puppy for a walk someplace new...like the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge in Essington - Rose Tree Park in Media -- or the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation near Newtown Square.

6. Revamp your pup's toy bin with new, clean toys - lose the old, bacteria infested ones!

7. Install a car safety harness to keep your puppy safe on car trips.

8. Buy a canine first aid kit and put it in your car -- it's there for any injury that happens at home AND when you're traveling.

"Hey, Spike - how long do you think we'll have to hang
around here waiting to be adopted?"
"I don't know, Max.  But  it better be quick. I just found out
 what a wedgie is..."

9. Microchip & I.D. Tag your puppy so shelters can locate you if he gets lost.

10. DIY-ers could find or buy and old crate, then decorate it for your puppy, to match your interior d├ęcor style. Think  HGTV!
